original photos

These following images are all my original photos used in my magazine

Contents page

This is the progression of my contents page.
At the top I have used the same name, font and colour as the one of the front on my magazine this way it is easier for readers to realise that this contents page goes with my front cover. My magazine is a monthly magazine as so I have put 'THIS MONTH' this font is also used on the front of my magazine again linking it in. Underneath I have added the issue number to that readers know what issue they are reading. This contents page is split into two sections, I felt that if I put it into three sections some of the pictures and text would have to be compromised.
Down the left hand side I have placed my cover lines and split them into 3 sections;
NEWS FEATURES REVIEWS

News: all these cover lines fit in with the genre of my magazine; the UK top 40 is a major cover line for my magazine considering that this is a chart magazine. Glastonbury is a popular festival and so readers will want to find out the new line up. Tour dates enable readers to find out when their favourite artists are touring and would be able to purchase tickets through the website.
Features: These are the artists that are included on the front on my magazine, all these artists are / were in te UK top 40 when I made my front cover (www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles). Thes articles would include question and answers for the artists and finding out what the latest gossip is with them!
Reviews: Here the readers can find out the single and album charts and also what SYNC thought about them!
Down the right hand side is additional information; I have included my double page spread picture; a free poster image; and also Sebastian Gold's new single. It also includes how you can subcribe to the magazine which would be cheaper than buying it every month. There is a twitter name so readers can follow up on all the latest music gossip online!
Behing two of the pictures I have put a brown square as it made the magazine look a bit more interesting, this colour was colour picked from the suit of the model on the front.

Final Contents Page

This is my final contents page. I feel this is a lot better than the first one and there are much more things going on here. I have shortened the all the text on the right hand side and made the picture at the top bigger. Instead of having 'exclusive first interview' underneath the picture I put it across the picture at a slight angle which works much more better and stands out.
Underneath I have added the same size sticker that is on the front of the magazine which gives the magazines website 'www.binsync.com' this is like the slogan on the front 'be in sync with todays top charts'.

At the bottom I added another picture and also made the font of twitter the real twitter font.

The arrow is to entice readers to turn over the magazine and read what is inside.
At the bottom is the page number along with 'prinxmedia' to show who it is published by.

Contents Page Research

This is the contents page for Drummer Magazine. It has been split into three sections with clear heading throughout. The cotents of the magazine is clearly displayed on the left hand side collumn with the headings 'features and regular's'. Additionanly the title is up the top of the page with a set of drums next to it. The issue date is also clearly dispayed up the top with the same colour scheme throughout. There are some pictures with numbers on them which I like as it means they reader should know who this person is. I like this idea and am going to try to incorportate this into my contents page.

This is NME's contents page. I like the 'NME this week' and have used this in my own contents page. They have put their contents on the right hand side of the page which is a nice change. They have split the magazine into 4 section. The use of the arrow at the bottom is a really good idea and I have an empty space at the bottom of mine and so I am going to use this idea in my contents page. The main colours here are red black and white.

This is Q's magazine contents page. The have there logo Q at the top of the page with the words contents. The two main heading they use are 'features' and 'every month'. The contents is spread down the left hand side of the page with a Q review at the bottom. I like the large picture and am going to make mine a similar size.

Contents Page Progress

This is the current progress of my contents page. I started at the top of the page by putting 'sync THIS WEEK' I thought this would fit better than putting a typical contents title. The famous NME magazine also puts their contents page like this. I used the font for THIS WEEK from my front cover which was used to write INSIDE. It is therefore ironic as the contents page is inside the magazine. I have come up with 3 main sections to the contents page: 'NEWS, FEATURES & REVIEWS' In news I have included things that have been released such as Tour Dates and the Glastonbury line up. In Features I will include famous artists that are on my font cover 'Rhianna, Take That, Katy Perry etc' For:

Rhianna - 5 number one hits

Katy Perry - sucess of fireworks and marriage to Russle Brand

Take That - Whats in store for the most anticipated tour of the year

Cheryl Cole - Female Icon

Mcfly - What its like to work with labryth

On the right hand side of the contents page I am going to add pictures of other people that are included in the magazine. At the bottom I have made a Single CD for Sebastian I have called it 'Don't look back' after his song name. I used the rubber tool and changed the effect on it and rubbed some of the letters to make them look more broken up. For Sebastian's name I used colour burn so that it would pick out the colours of the picture. For the actual picture I changed the exposer levels until I was happy with the colour.

In the reviews I will say what people thought of Sebatian's new single and other random bands.

Photo Editing

gif animator online
This is my front cover picture, as you can see i have darkened the tones in the picture and slightly zoomed in to a more sheeker look to the magazine. The colours are much more prominant and stand out to the audience. Additionally the background is less visable so it does not give away the location of the photoshoot.

This is my double page spread picture, I have changed it to black and white as i think it looks much nicer and more elegant. I will do some more editing to remove the items from the background.

This is a picture for the contents page, again I have used black and white as i think it gives the pictue a much nicer look as the colours are quite orange.

This is another contents page picture, I lightened the picture and altered the contrast so that the colours were defined a bit more.

Magazines Compared

This shows the progression of my magazine to when I first started designing it to the finished product.

Final Magazine Front Cover

This is my final magazine front cover. Im really pleased with the outcome and think it all fits in together. I added 'free magazine download' to fill the empty gap in the magazine. I used music download in one font and used the same colour as the models suit. Over the top I have used a stamp like font to right free. I placed it here so that you can still read the words underneath.

Magazine Front Cover Progression

I am finally getting near to my final front cover. I have changed the text layouts and font for my magazine. I changed 'sebastain' to a differnt font than 'gold' to give it that edge and the not so elegant look. Throughout I have used the font courier for the simple bits of text like the artists names, issue number, price, date and the slogan as well as some of the cover lines. Again I changed the title font as it did not really fit in with some of the fancier fonts. I underlined it aswell and rubbed out with the rubber tool by the 'y' to make it look nicer. The strap line at the bottom has been turned black and I decided to put the artists names there which I feel looks a lot better. I used a to seperate the artists names. The white font on the black background makes it stand out. There was an empty gap under Sebastians name so I decided to put a quote from my double page spread which would stand out to the readers and would want to read it. Orignally I went to colour this with the colour burn tool but some of the text did not show over the black bits of the picture. I coloured picked a lighter colour from the models suit and used that so that it all linked in togther. Again I used an elegant text to fit in the magazine. I moved the slogan underneath the title and think it looks really well there as it fits in with the title. Down the left hand side are my strap lines. I used 'inside' in a big bold font so that it stands out to readers. There is an empty spot on the magazine which I am going to fill with 'free music download'.

Magazine Front Cover Progression

As you can see I have changed most of the magazine now. I thought it would be a good idea to put 'sebastian gold' in a chrome effect because of the word 'gold' I think this works really well. Also it fits in with the colour of the beam that the model is holding onto. Instead of having the names of artists on a stapline I tought it would be a good idea to put all the names at bottom in different fonts however I feel there are too many fonts going on and so I am going to change this. I changed the title 'sync' back so its orignal font as I thought it was a bit plain and boring. As well as this I added a sticker like shape that says 'Voted #1 UK chart magazine 2010' this is a enticing device that will attract the reader to pick up and buy the magazine. I added a strap line to the bottom of the magazine which says 'Be in SYNC with todays top charts' which is my magazines slogan. I moved the bar code to the top of the magazine to fit into the strapline.
