magazine front cover first attempt

Playing around in photoshop this is what I came up with. The fonts seem to be a little bit simple so I'm going to experiment with other fonts to see which ones fit in the magazine. The colours are quite dark in the picture except from the models shirt and so putting white text over this could be a problem. You can make out that it says 'Take That' over the shirt but I would like the text to be a bit more clearer. I decided to put a blue strap line behind the text so that it would stand out more but put the transparency down so that you can still see the main image. I put the barcode in the bottom right hand corner as thats where I feel it would fit best.

Music Magazine Ideas

After looking at many fonts and pictures that I had taken I feel I have found the right ones for my magazine. I chose to go with my model Matthew Gordon as I feel he has the stongest pictures which will go well on the front cover as well as my double page spread. My magazine type is going to be linked with songs in the charts, it is a popular genre as new songs are being released all the time.

My magazine name goes well with this theme as you would assosiate the name with an ipod. You sync your ipod to put new songs onto it and therefore I feel they go together well. Apple is a very large manafactuer in the music industry with itunes and their revoluntional music players, this gives me oppurunities to offer a free music download from itunes or a chance to win an Ipod when people will buy my magazine; this would be a unique selling point for my magazine, customers who buy the magazine will be getting something for free when they buy the magazine which will attract buyers.

With this name I thought a catchy strapline 'Be in Sync with the UK's Top Charts'. The colours I have chosen for my magazine are mainly a lime green and black I feel these are quite unisex colours and will apply to both sexes. My magazine will mainly be aimed at the teenage generation as they are the ones mostly interested in the new chart songs. This is quite an easy topic as for my double page spread I can use my model as a new artist that has just entered the charts and write about how he got there etc.

As I do not have photoshop at home I played around in word for some ideas and came up with this:
I used the font 'karabinE.' it is an unusal font but I think it suits my magazine. I changed the letter 'n' so that it typed backwards which I think gives it a quirky look and makes it look different from a normal magazine font. I added a circle which I outlined in the green colour to make it stand out from the rest of the page. Inside of it is says THE UK'S FAVOURITE CHART MAGAZINE 2010 I feel this statement will intice more customers as it shows it is a popular magazine. I have not added any coverlines yet as this was made on word. The colour I used was red - 146 green - 208 blue - 80. I like this colour and think it stands out well from the dark background.
